Welcome to my artistic space ~ I’m Bella St John, and it is a true pleasure to share my work with you. The journey of my art has evolved into something far beyond my initial vision, and I am honoured to be a professional artist who brings love and respect to each piece I undertake. Whether embarking on a new commissioned piece, creating a new work for sale, or expanding my craft by continually experimenting with different techniques and mediums – these are things that bring my soul immense joy.
Above all, I strive to craft meaningful works that truly capture the feeling, legacy, character, and spirit of the subject, creating a painting that lives beyond the canvas.

What you will find in this site
My primary focus is translating your personal vision into a tangible, soulful creation, whether through detailed portraits in oil pastel or expressive abstract works. I approach every commission as a unique partnership, dedicated to honouring the significance of your subject. This is why I stand by my promise for all commissions: if you do not absolutely love the finished piece, you do not pay for it. My commitment is to deliver an heirloom-quality artwork that resonates deeply with you and stands the test of time.
Commissions: If you don’t LOVE it, you don’t pay for it!
I was watching an art competition program a few months ago when they unveiled the commission. The shock and disappointment on several people’s faces – including the sitter and the institution where the portrait was to hang – was obvious. While it was an interesting work, it was… well… just not what anyone except the artist was really expecting.
I made a decision at that moment that if my clients don’t love what I create, they don’t pay for it – it’s that simple.
At the outset, I will give you an idea of the general style and direction I feel the piece will go, and will base it around the photos you send to me. Once the painting is complete, I will send you several photos of the piece for you to review before completing the purchase to ensure you are happy with the result.
My commission clients to date have always loved their finished pieces, but if for any reason someone doesn’t, they don’t pay for it, and I will simply retain the work.
